I had a ton of real world, military and government experience and training in the 1980 and 1990, pistol, rifle, shotgun, marksman, hand to hand. As I got older and more injured I switched careers. Eventually I returned to practical shooting, and when I had gone as far as I could getting back into it on my own, I picked two local schools (based on recommendations and verified resumes)
The Chuck Burnett course I took is a moderately slow paced, only hits count move and shoot course.
He is a great teacher for newbies, I was too advanced for the course, but had a ton of fun doing it.
The Suarez International class was Point Shooting. Mastering this style of shooting will greatly increase your chance of surviving a hostile shoot. As my speed improved my fatal hit ratio went up also, Excellent results for just 8hrs of training.
For the novice shooter, Chuck is the way to go. For pure self defense, shoot first or die training, Suarez.
When my hip heals (had it replaced on Aug 29) I will take an intermediate-advanced pistol course with Suarez again. Good Stuff.
