I took my new Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22 out to American Shooters today for their fourth Tuesday of the month indoor Carbine match. This was the second time I've shot my 15-22, and the first time shooting a Carbine match. Needless to say my times weren't very fast, and all my round didn't find their target. But, I had fun just the same, and that's really what it's all about.
There were 24 shooters split up into two squads. Each squat shot their course-of-fire with the lights on, and again with the lights off. Fortunately I talked with my friend Pete earlier in the day about my going to this match. He told me it was likely they would be shooting with the lights off. I told him I did not have a tactical light for my rifle. He told me I could make do by simply duck taping on a flash light. It's not the ideal set up, but it worked okay. Except that the flash light I had was underpowered for the task. But that's okay, I made do with what I had and enjoyed myself.
I always find the shooters at these matches friendly and helpful. This match was no exception. Two shooters, both named Aaron. One of them was Aaron Maludin, he is the store manager at the Lock N Load Gun Store. Real nice gun. Lock N Load is way on the other side of town from where I live, but I'm going to make it a pint to visit them. Both Aarons offered me suggestions on gear that will be a big help should I want to continue to shoot carbine matches. And I believe I do. I'm not one for just having firearms setting around the house. I want to enjoy them, and know that I can use any of them proficiently any time I might want to, or need to.
