Thoughts on the RRA PDS Carbine

  • As an avid fan of firearms, I am always on the hunt for new stuff that I will actually personally use but just enough to be examined in a blog, research paper, online journal, or even at conversations at the bar.

The Rock River Arms PDS Carbine has a bolt carrier that is actuated by pistol.  The spring can be found at the barrel. With this feature, a buffer tube is no longer needed and has actually has an ambidextrous forward H&K-like charging handles. Carbines are more sensible and efficient to use and the design emphasizes flexibility rather than vanity.

    Here are the specifications:

    Caliber :   5.56mm NATO
    Upper    Proprietary: PDS upper
    Trigger:   RAA two stage
    Grip:    Hogue Rubber Pistol Grip
Barrel:    16” Chrome Moly, 1:9 twist
Stock:   RRA Side-Folding 6-Position Tactical CAR Stock
Total Length (stock unfolded/extended):    37.75 inches
Total Length (stock folded):   26" inches
    Weight :   7.4 lbs
    MSRP (Price):    $1685

There are many more deserving carbines to consider just as there are many essays about pistols, just thought this one deserves a little bit closer look.
